Army Fitness Test (AFT) Calculator

Written by Blake Boege
An AFT calculator (Autologous Fat Transfer) is a clinical planning utility used in plastic and reconstructive surgery to estimate fat grafting requirements and volume retention. The calculator models fat processing steps, estimating the volume of harvested lipoaspirate needed to produce a target volume of purified fat graft after centrifugation or decanting. It also projects post-operative fat retention over time based on anatomical graft sites and clinical technique parameters. Surgeons and medical researchers use this tool to plan procedures and manage patient expectations regarding graft survival.
Score all 5 events of the new Army Fitness Test. Includes Combat and Non-Combat MOS scoring logic.
Quick Answer
Estimate fat grafting requirements and volume retention for autologous fat transfer procedures. Enter target graft volume and site parameters to calculate required harvest volumes.

What is the Army Fitness Test (AFT)?
The Army Fitness Test (AFT) is the U.S. Army's physical fitness assessment, replacing the Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) effective June 1, 2025. All Active Duty, Reserve, and National Guard soldiers are required to pass the AFT.
What changed from ACFT
- The Standing Power Throw event was removed
- The test went from 6 events to 5 events
- Scoring tables were updated
- Combat MOSs are scored using sex-neutral combat standards
- Non-Combat MOSs are scored using sex-normed standards
The 5 Events
- Three Repetition Maximum Deadlift (MDL) — Maximum weight on 3 reps with a hex bar
- Hand-Release Push-Up – Arm Extension (HRP) — Maximum reps in 2 minutes
- Sprint-Drag-Carry (SDC) — Obstacle course combining a sprint, sled drag, lateral, and farmer's carry
- Plank (PLK) — Hold the high plank position as long as possible
- Two-Mile Run (2MR) — Outdoor or on a track
Passing Standards
Soldiers need a minimum of 60 points per event, AND a minimum of 350 points total (out of 500 possible). Failing one event means failing the whole test, regardless of total score.

- 60 points: 140 lbs (minimum to pass)
Hand-Release Push-Ups (reps):
- 100 points: 60 reps
- 90 points: 50 reps

Frequently asked questions
The AFT is the U.S. Army's current physical fitness assessment, replacing the ACFT on June 1, 2025. It consists of 5 events (deadlift, hand-release push-ups, sprint-drag-carry, plank, 2-mile run). Soldiers must score at least 60 in each event and 350 total out of 500 to pass.
You need 60 points minimum on each individual event AND 350 points minimum total. Failing any single event (scoring below 60) means failing the test, regardless of your total. The maximum possible score is 500.
The AFT replaced the ACFT on June 1, 2025. Key change: Standing Power Throw was removed, reducing the test from 6 events to 5. Scoring tables were also updated. Passing standards (60 per event, 350 total) stayed the same.
It depends on your MOS. Combat MOS soldiers (Infantry, Armor, Special Forces, etc.) are scored using sex-neutral 'combat standards' — same tables for men and women. Non-Combat MOSs are scored using sex-normed standards with separate tables. All scoring is age-adjusted.
Combat MOSs include the 11-series (Infantry), 12B (Combat Engineer), 13F (Fire Support), 18-series (Special Forces), 19-series (Cavalry/Armor), and select others. These roles are scored using sex-neutral combat standards because they may engage in direct ground combat.
350 = minimum passing. 400+ = above average. 450+ = excellent. 500 = perfect (very rare). For promotion competitiveness, soldiers typically target 450+. The Sergeant Audie Murphy Club and other elite recognition typically requires near-max scores.
Soldiers typically have 90 days to retake a failed AFT. Repeated failures can result in administrative consequences including separation from service. Talk to your chain of command about specific retake policies in your unit.
Soldiers on a medical profile may be authorized to take an alternate event. Alternate events for the 2-mile run include the 2.5-mile walk, 12,000-meter row, 5,000-meter bike, or 1,000-meter swim. Profile durations and exact alternates are determined by medical providers and unit standards.
Yes — this calculator uses the AFT scoring tables in effect as of the 2025 AFT implementation, with age and sex/MOS adjustments. The Army may update tables periodically; for official scoring, always refer to ATP 7-22.01 and unit guidance.
No. This is an unofficial tool for soldiers and recruits to estimate their AFT scores during training. For official record scores, only the test administered through your unit with certified graders counts. Use this calculator for training and self-assessment.
