An image rotation utility is a digital editing tool that adjusts the display orientation of a raster image. It modifies the canvas context by shifting the origin coordinates and applying angular transformations before painting the image buffer, outputting rotated files without quality loss.

Rotate PNG, JPG, or WebP images by 90, 180, or 270 degrees instantly. Complete privacy, processed entirely in your browser.

Examples

Rotate 90 degrees clockwise

Horizontal landscape photo → Vertical portrait orientation

Rotate 180 degrees

Upside down photo → Standard upright orientation

How it works

This tool changes the orientation of images client-side by applying trigonometric transformations to an HTML5 canvas element.

When an image is loaded, its rotation angle is used to calculate the new canvas dimensions:

  • For 90° or 270°: the canvas width and height swap.
  • For 180°: the canvas width and height remain the same.

The canvas context is then translated to the center, rotated by the specified angle, and translated back. Finally, the image is drawn, producing the rotated output blob in its original file format.

100% Client-Side. All adjustments are calculated using your local browser resources. No data is shared.

Frequently asked questions

Select your image file, choose the desired rotation angle (90° clockwise, 180°, or 270° clockwise), preview the rotated image, and click Rotate Image to process and download.

No. All image rotations are processed entirely client-side using JavaScript canvas inside your web browser. Your private pictures never leave your local machine.

Yes, for 90° and 270° rotations. The width and height of the image will swap (for example, a 1920x1080 horizontal photo will become a 1080x1920 vertical photo). 180° rotations preserve original dimensions.

Yes, this tool fully supports rotating all common web image file formats (.png, .jpg, .jpeg, .webp).
